This book came about without any intention. There were moments in which I had a sense that something took me into its service. In these moments I could not focus on anything else, even though other things often seemed to be urgent. Sometimes I tried to resist, attempting to get something else done, but to no avail. Eventually, I gave in, sat down, put a piece of paper in front of me, willing to write. Often I had no idea what I was supposed to write. Then suddenly a word came, and I put the pen to the paper without knowing where it would take me. I started with the first sentence. Then the next one came. I kept on writing, and then all of a sudden the words poured out stroke by stroke and line by line. It is in this same way that I pass these texts on to you. This is a contemplative book, a preliminary book, for the truth is forever traveling. It is love in progress.
